Chlorine, salt water and constant immersion are brutal on lighting fixtures. That is why most pool light failures start with water ingress, not with the LED chip. In this article we explain how resin filled (fully potted) construction solves the problem.

What is resin filling?

Resin filling means the whole internal cavity of the lamp is filled with epoxy or polyurethane resin. Once cured, there is no air space left inside the housing, so water cannot travel along cables or through screw threads.

Advantages over rubber-ring sealing

  • No aging gasket — rubber rings harden and crack after 2-3 seasons, resin does not
  • IP68 rating can be maintained for years, not just at the factory
  • Better heat dissipation from the LED board to the housing
  • Thinner fixture design, because no mechanical sealing depth is required
